How to Manage in the Pandemic

Let’s face it parents, amid the pandemic we have become a whole slew of other things to our children. Besides nurturer, chef, entertainer, teacher, nurse, friend, and playmate, we have also become coach, librarian, dentist, doctors and some caregivers, even ABA therapist.

Although it can be taxing, it does give us an opportunity to brush up on some old skills, like the artist in us. It even gives us the opportunity to develop new skills like the calm and mild-tempered therapist or teacher. Regardless of our roles, we are all going through this pandemic together, so why not share some information you may find useful. To the parent of the child with with special needs, I know much of the expectations for your child’s development are now left on you. You as the parent are now in the position where you may have taken on the role of ABA therapist. Many parents have become creative in finding ways to entertain, challenge, and work with their child. Some parents on the other hand are overwhelmed, and have no idea where to begin. In the coming weeks I will be providing some resources which may be useful to you while working with your child at home. I hope you will find them useful and that they will aide in alleviating some stress while coming up with ideas and things to do with your child.
